COLUMBIA, SC – Alcohol consumption is a contributing cause in thousands of highway fatalities each year. The Law Offices of Robert Dodson, P.A., which has successfully sued drunk drivers on behalf of those they have harmed, would like to remind South Carolinians that if they are going to be drinking alcohol as part of their holiday celebrations, to not drive. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimated that 11,773 people were killed at the hands of drunk drivers in 2008. In addition, drunk drivers have inflicted serious and debilitating injuries on thousands of innocent drivers. Even the consumption of relatively small amounts of alcohol can impair a driver’s judgment and ability to react. In South Carolina, drunk drivers continue to present a threat and danger on our roadways. If you are going to be drinking alcohol this holiday season, remember to designate a driver or call a cab. The minimal expense and inconvenience is well worth saving a life – including your own life or that of a loved one. The Law Offices of Robert Dodson, P.A. have successfully sued drunk drivers for years because of the injuries these criminals have inflicted on innocent victims. In addition to serving jail time and prison time imposed by the criminal courts, courts may require drunk drivers to compensate victims for their injuries and deaths. In some circumstances the Law Offices of Robert Dodson, P.A. have even sued bars that have negligently and illegally served alcohol to intoxicated patrons and then allowed those patrons to leave drunk in their own cars. “We will continue to do our part to help the victims of drunk drivers” said Attorney Robert Dodson. “We will never shy away from aggressively and vigorously pursuing these violent criminals for the injuries and death they cause and the grief they inflict on their victims and families.” Do not become a statistic this holiday season. Protect yourself, your family and your fellow South Carolinians by acting responsibly. Designate a driver, call a cab, but please don’t drink and drive. |
